Using the panel

Search, clip and import content from your Moments Lab library, directly inside your editing software.

The Moments Lab panel brings your Moments Lab library into your editing software, so you can search, clip and import content without leaving your timeline. This article covers how to navigate the panel, find and add content to your bin, and send your finished edit back to Moments Lab.

This article applies to the Moments Lab panel for Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Avid Media Composer — the panel works the same way across all three. For installation steps, see Install and set up the Adobe Premiere Pro panel.

Navigate your library

The panel mirrors your Moments Lab workspace. From the panel, you can access:

  • Events: including your scheduled live streams.

  • Collections: your saved groups of content.

  • Projects: shared and personal projects.

  • Settings: click the gear icon next to Projects to configure the panel — see Customize your panel settings below.

Search for content

Use the search bar to find moments and media across your library, the same way you would on the web app. The global search bar currently only supports free text search. To search using labels, perform a search first, then narrow your results using the filters menu on the right of your search results.

Two search options are available:

  • Media-based: finds entire media files using metadata at the media level.

  • Moment-based: locates specific moments using time-stamped metadata.

Toggle between the two by selecting Moments or Media in your search results. You can then refine your results further:

  • For moments, use the Moment Type filter to return Sequences, Soundbites, Transcript segments, or Annotations.

  • For media files, filter by Videos, Images, Audio, or Documents.

Add content to your bin

Open a moment to preview it, and refine its start and end points if the selected duration isn't quite right.

Select the moment you want and click + Add to Bin to download it directly into your bin — the folder where your editing software keeps footage for your current project.

Track your downloads from the media queue in the top right corner of the panel. The queue shows what's downloaded, what's in progress, and flags any failed downloads. This queue only tracks downloads from Moments Lab into your bin — it doesn't track exports back to Moments Lab.

Collaborate using projects

Projects shared with you appear automatically in the panel, along with any moments already selected and organized in the web app. This makes it easy to hand off a curated selection to an editor: build the project in Moments Lab, add your editor to it, and the moments are ready for them in the panel — no extra steps needed.

Export your edit back to Moments Lab

  1. In your event, click Export Timeline.

  2. Choose the destination: an existing event, your current event, or create a new one.

  3. Rename the exported file if needed.

  4. Choose your output quality. Select from predefined presets or your organization's custom presets. You can select multiple formats to export at once.

  5. Click Export. This opens your editing software's encoding tool (Adobe Media Encoder for Premiere Pro) to process and upload the file.

Adobe Media Encoder handles the encoding and upload, so track its progress from there — the panel's own media queue only tracks downloads, not exports.

Customize your panel settings

To open panel settings, click the gear icon next to Projects in the panel's navigation bar. Settings are configured per user, so each person on your team sets up the panel their own way.

  • Source media path: the local folder where your downloaded moments are saved. You're prompted to set this the first time you use the panel, and you can change it anytime — you'll need to set it even if your content is stored in the cloud.

  • Shared or local storage: connects your media to an external server instead of downloading it locally, for workspaces using their own storage infrastructure. This setting requires configuration support — contact your Solution Architect or our Support team before enabling it.

  • Workspace: switch to a different Moments Lab workspace at any time.

  • Open save dialog before download: prompts you to choose a save location every time you download a moment, instead of using your default source media path.

  • Proxy workflow: turn this on if you're working with a limited internet connection. The panel downloads lightweight proxy versions of your media for editing, then swaps them for the full-resolution files when you export your final project. We recommend leaving this off unless your connection requires it.

  • Clipping gap (handles): sets how many seconds of buffer are added before and after each clip you download.

  • Custom fields to display: choose which custom fields appear in list view when browsing search results.
