Reframe Clips for Social

Turn any shot into a perfect vertical frame for social.

Reframe adapts your video to 9:16 vertical, the format for Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts, without any manual cropping. Choose the layout that fits your content, then fine-tune individual shots as needed.

What reframe does

Depending on your content, you might want a speaker's face front and center on screen. Click the Reframe icon (the grid of four squares) at the top of the right sidebar to open it.

Choosing a layout

Reframe gives you three layout options:

  • Cover: zooms in and tracks the main subject to fill the vertical frame. Faces and objects automatically take prominence, and the framing follows them as they move. Best for talking heads, interviews and action footage.

  • Contain: keeps the full original shot in frame, so nothing gets cropped out. Use this when the wider scene matters and cropping would lose context.

  • Split: divides the frame into two zones, each tracking a different subject. Built for interviews, podcasts, game shows or any scene with two people talking.

Smart Detection and fine-tuning shots

Smart Detection is a one-click AI mode that reviews every shot in your composition and picks the layout that fits best, choosing between Cover, Contain and Split.

  1. Choose which layouts Smart Detection is allowed to use. For example, allow Cover and Split only if Contain doesn't fit your show.

  2. Click Run Smart Detection.

  3. Studio assigns a layout to every shot in your composition.

You can also skip Smart Detection and set a default layout for your whole timeline instead. Either way, you can override any clip that needs something different: select it on the timeline and change its layout in the Reframe panel. This only affects that clip.

For any shot, you can also:

  • Zoom in or out on the subject

  • Move the framing target manually

  • Switch between Split presets to change how the two zones are arranged
