There are three ways to search your catalog, plus filters to narrow whatever you find. Which one you reach for depends on what you already know about what you're looking for.
If you know the words, use keyword search. If you know the look, use semantic search. If you know the idea, ask the Discovery Agent.
Keyword and semantic search both run from the search bar at the top of the platform. The Discovery Agent is separate.
Keyword search
Finds an exact word or phrase, across transcripts, titles, file names and metadata.
Use it when you know precisely what was said and want every instance of it, when you're looking for a named person, place or brand, or when you need a specific file by its name or reference.
For example: every time a contestant says the show's catchphrase, or every mention of a sponsor.
Keyword search only finds what was actually said or written down. If nobody said it and nobody logged it, use semantic search instead.
Semantic search
Finds content by meaning rather than exact wording, so you don't need to know how something was described.
Use it when you know what a shot looks like but not what it's called, or when the thing you want could have been described a dozen different ways.
For example: an aerial shot of a coastline, or two people arguing in a kitchen.
Discovery Agent
Describe what you need in plain language, the way you'd ask a colleague who has watched every episode, and get back the moments that match. You can keep refining in conversation until you have what you want.
Use it when you're working from an editorial brief rather than a specific shot, or when you want a set of moments gathered around a theme rather than a single clip.
For example: the moments where the rivalry between two characters builds across a season, or the best reactions from a run of episodes.
Anything you specify in your prompt is applied for you. Ask for reactions from season two and you'll get results from season two, without setting a filter yourself. The more you put in the prompt, the less you have to narrow afterward.
Filters
Filters narrow what a search returns, by show, season, person, date or custom moment. How they get applied depends on which search you used.
From the search bar: you apply filters yourself, after you've searched. Run your query, then narrow the results by hand.
From the Discovery Agent: filters are applied automatically, based on what you asked for. If your prompt mentions a show, a season or a person, the Discovery Agent narrows to it without you doing anything.
So if you're using the search bar, expect to search and then filter. If you're using the Discovery Agent, put the constraints in your prompt and let it do the narrowing.
