The Thesaurus trains Moments Lab's AI to recognize your characters and talent, so they're identified automatically across your moments and media file search results. It has two tabs: People, for the faces you train, and Labels, for the tags and aliases you and MXT manage.
Add people to the thesaurus
Adding a person to the Thesaurus teaches MXT3 to recognize their face, so they come up automatically in search going forward.
Go to Thesaurus in the left menu, and open the People tab.
Drop an image into the upload area, or click it to browse for one (JPG or PNG).
Add the person's Name and a short Description.
For best results, use three high-quality images of the same person. A single image works, but three images trains the AI more reliably. Each image should have:
The face at roughly 300x300 pixels, measured ear to ear and eyebrow to chin.
A full front-facing angle, not a 3/4 profile.
Eyes open.
No obstructions, like a hand or other object covering the face.
No sunglasses (clear glasses are fine).
Manage labels and aliases
Labels are tags that classify your content, similar to people but for objects, concepts and named entities. MXT generates many of them automatically as it analyzes your footage, for example detecting a "car" or a "road" on screen. You can also create labels manually for anything MXT can't identify on its own, such as team or stadium names specific to your content.
Go to Thesaurus in the left menu, and open the Labels tab.
Click Create a label.
Give the label a name and description, and optionally add:
An alias: an alternate name or synonym you want search to match as well, such as "QVEMA" for Qui veut etre mon associé, or “GOT” for “Game of Thrones”
A parent label: nests the label under a broader one. For example, "Season 1", "Season 2" and "Season 3" could each have "Series Season" set as their parent.
Setting a parent is especially useful once your thesaurus grows into the thousands of labels: it keeps related labels grouped together, and lets a custom field's autocomplete suggest only that label family instead of your entire thesaurus.
Once created, a label can be used to filter your search results, or searched directly using the # prefix in the search bar. Learn how to search with labels.
Use the delete icon next to a label to remove it.
Good to know
Adding people and labels to the Thesaurus requires specific permissions. If you don't see the option, ask your workspace admin.
If you add a person after MXT3 has already analyzed a media file, they might not be recognized on that file automatically. Tag them manually on the media instead, or reach out to our Support team.
AWS Celebrities: recognizes well-known public figures automatically during indexing, using a database of tens of thousands of names that Amazon maintains and keeps growing. You don't need to add these people to the Thesaurus yourself. Contact our Support team to enable it for your workspace. Learn more.
Wikidata: link a person in the Thesaurus to their Wikidata entry to make every alias, nickname or translated name on that entry searchable too, not just the name you typed in. Learn more.
