In this article, we’ll explore the Transcript panel together. Let’s get started!

To access the Transcript panel, you have several options:

  • Perform a full-text search to find a specific clip, then click on the result that interests you. In this case, make sure to filter your search results by Moments. Otherwise, the results displayed will correspond to the entire media containing your quote, and not to the specific clip.

  • Open a media file and click the Speech icon located at the top right of the page.

Transcript panel description

Once the panel is open, you’ll find at the top:

  • A search bar to explore the transcript.

  • The Translate… button, which lets you access the available translations depending on the languages enabled on the platform. You’ll also find the Set original language dropdown, which allows you to select a new source language and regenerate the transcript.

  • The Export button, which enables you to download the transcript in different formats. You can export as plain text, timecoded texts (simple or with source timecodes), or as an .srt file.

  • The Start Editing button, which activates editing mode so you can correct the text. Please note that any edits made to one version (multilingual, FR, EN, or others) will not be reflected in the other versions.

Next, you’ll see the transcript itself. Each paragraph contains the following information:

  • The timecode corresponding to the paragraph.

  • The language code indicating the detected source language.

  • The speaker icon. If the speaker was recognized, their name will appear here. Otherwise, you can manually assign a speaker by clicking the icon.

  • The three-dot menu allowing you to delete the paragraph.

  • The transcribed text.

Editing the Transcript

When you want to edit the text, here are the different actions available:

As mentioned above, click the Start Editing button to activate editing mode. Once enabled, click inside a paragraph to start making corrections. Click outside the paragraph to save your changes. The Edited label will then appear at the top right of the paragraph.

  • To split a paragraph in two, place your cursor where you want to split and press Enter.

  • To merge two paragraphs, place your cursor at the beginning of the second paragraph and press the Backspace key.

Assigning a Speaker

The icon to the left of each paragraph lets you manually assign a speaker. The suggestions shown are based on the personalities detected in the media. However, you can also type any name you wish; in that case, suggestions from the thesaurus will appear.

Speech-to-Cut Tools

Now let’s see how to add an excerpt to your cart using the transcript with the Speech-to-Cut tool.

To do this, click the Open clipping tools button at the bottom of the page.

The selection timeline will appear, and part of the text will be highlighted in yellow.
Highlight the section you’re interested in, then click Add to cart in the clipping tools box.

And that’s it—you now know everything about the Transcript panel!
