Panel — FAQs

Got questions about the Moments Lab panel? Here are your answers.

Quick answers to common questions about using the Moments Lab panel for Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Avid Media Composer, from search and clipping to exporting your finished edit.

How does the search function work?

The search function lets you search media and moments, filtering results by relevance, date, type and more. Filters include organization, media type, approval status, labels, people and moment type, as well as any custom filters your workspace has set up.

How do I access the clipping tool?

Open a moment, then click Open Clipping Tool in the Open Media view. From there, you can set a Timecode In (TCI) and Timecode Out (TCO), adjust the clip duration, and add the clip to your bin with adjustable handles.

What is the purpose of the handles in the clipping tool?

Handles add a short buffer before and after your clip, so you have room to extend it if the exact frame isn't quite right. The default handle length is 4 seconds, but you can change it anytime in Clipping gap (handles) in your panel settings.

What's the difference between downloading media and referencing the hi-res file?

By default, adding a clip to your bin downloads it to your local source media path. If your workspace uses its own storage infrastructure, you can turn on Shared or local storage in panel settings instead, this references your media directly from external storage rather than downloading a local copy. This setting requires configuration support, so contact your Solution Architect or our Support team before enabling it.

What types of media can I add to my bin?

You can add complete assets, moments, clips created with the clipping tool, transcripts, pictures and PDFs.

How is the media queue managed?

The media queue, in the top right of the panel, shows the name, status and progress of everything you've downloaded. You can close, clear or stop the queue at any time. It only tracks downloads into your bin, exports back to Moments Lab are handled separately by your editing software's own encoder (for example, Adobe Media Encoder for Premiere Pro).

How do I export a file after editing?

From your event, click Export Timeline, choose a destination (an existing event, your current event, or a new one), rename the file if needed, and select your output quality. Click Export to open your editing software's encoding tool, which processes and uploads the file, you can keep working while this happens.

Can I save my export in an existing event or create a new one?

Yes. When exporting, choose to save into an existing event or create a new one, setting its title and other details as needed.

What presets are available for export formats?

You can choose from your organization's predefined presets, or any custom presets your organization has set up, when configuring your export quality.

What roles are available in the panel and what are their permissions?

Anyone with a Moments Lab account can access the panel, and your permissions follow your role in Moments Lab. Guest accounts may have more limited access than full workspace members, check with your workspace administrator if you're not sure what a guest can see or do.

How can I manage my workspace and storage preferences?

Open panel settings by clicking the gear icon next to Projects. From there, you can set your source media path, switch workspaces, turn on a proxy workflow, and reach our Support team.

What do I do if I don't know the geographic location of my workspace?

Start with the region closest to your organization's headquarters. If your workspace doesn't appear, try the other region. If you still can't find it, contact our Support team.
