The Search bar makes it easy to find relevant footage across your entire AI-indexed library. Use it to locate clips by what's said, who appears, what objects are visible, or any combination of metadata.

The Search bar supports three distinct search methods—keyword, label, and semantic—giving you flexible ways to discover content in seconds without manual logging or scrolling through files.

How to Find the Search Bar

The Search bar is located in the top navigation bar of the Moments Lab interface. It remains visible on every page, allowing you to search from anywhere in the platform.

Three Search Methods: Keyword, Label, or Semantic

Moments Lab provides three complementary search methods. Choose the one that best matches what you know and what you need to find.

Keyword Text Search

Keyword search looks for exact text matches across your metadata. Use this when you know specific terms, names, or phrases included in your metadata.

Keyword search looks through:

  • Transcript text

  • Titles and file names

  • Custom metadata fields

  • Descriptions generated by MXT (shot summaries, sequence descriptions, custom moments)

Top Tip: Use this search method when working with media files that follow strict naming conventions

Label Search

Label Search allows you to search using tags, people, and other structured metadata items applied to your media created by MXT or by manual tagging.

You can also apply boolean logic to include/exclude labels or people.

Top Tip: Use this search method when you want to find people who appear together in the same video or at the same moment within a video.

Combining Labels and Text

You can combine labels with free-text search to find moments when specific people say specific things. When you use a person label along with free text, the system looks for times when that person appears on screen and the given words or objects appear in the transcript or sequence description.

For example, the query below finds moments when John F. Kennedy is on screen and the phrase “because they are easy, but because they are hard” appears in the video’s transcript.
