In this article, we’ll go over how the Search View works on the platform.
We’ll explore the different options available to help you search for and manage media from the search interface. We’ll cover:
Let’s get started!
Search
To access the Search View, click on the search bar. The search helper will appear, providing information on how search works.
From there, type your query into the search bar and press Enter to access the Search View.
You can perform:
A full-text search across all data on the platform
A person search by starting your query with
@
A label search by starting with
#
As you type, autocomplete suggestions will appear to help you target your search more precisely.
In addition, you can use search filters to narrow down data entered into custom fields during event creation. To access filters, click the Filters button located below the Save as Collection button.
You can combine all three methods (full-text, people, and labels) to refine your search as much as possible.
As mentioned in the search helper, the platform also supports boolean functions for labels, people, and filter items:
Double-click a label or person to exclude it from the search
Drag and drop a label or person onto the item to its left to switch the operator from AND to OR
You can also combine boolean logic with full-text search to refine your results even further.
You can sort results by relevance, by ascending or descending date, and search in different languages using the dropdown menus above the search results.
Additionally, you can choose to display results either by media or by moment.
Moment view will only show excerpts that match your search
Media view will display the full media files containing those excerpts
Navigating
Clicking on a media file opens the preview mode, allowing you to view detailed information about the media. From here, you can easily navigate through search results using the arrows on either side of the preview window.
Media Selection
Enable media selection mode by clicking the Select mode button.
This allows you to select media by clicking the checkbox in the top-left corner of each thumbnail.
Once you’ve selected a group of media, a button will appear showing the number of items selected: X media selected
With this button, you can add selected media to your cart.
Depending on your user role, you may also be able to:
Batch edit information in custom fields
Relaunch cognitive tasks using the Launch Task feature
Share your selection with organizations to make it visible to them
List View and Search Score Log
You can switch from grid view to list view at any time.
In List View, you’ll see a Search Score Log button on the right side of each media item. This button provides insights on why a particular media file was ranked higher than others by showing the number of search term occurrences within it.
And that’s it — now you know how to get the most out of the platform’s search tool. Well done!
